President-elect Joe Biden’s decisive victory over President Donald Trump has been clear for weeks, but he didn’t get official approval from the federal government until Monday, Nov. 23, to start the massive process of taking over the executive branch. It was the certification of Michigan’s 16 Electoral College votes on Monday afternoon that ultimately led the head of the Government Services Administration (GSA) to send Biden a letter that started the formal transition process.
Trump tweeted minutes after the letter was released that he had allowed the transition to continue, but continued insisting, without any evidence, that there was significant fraud in 2020 presidential election, and that the GSA determination isn’t the final word.
Trump is right about one thing — the GSA isn’t the final word. That comes when then Electoral College meets on Dec. 14, when Biden will formally get his 306 votes to Trump’s 232 votes.
