The government is finally sending a bit of help to the American people—and social media was quick to respond with memes.

A few days ago, Congress and the White House finally reached an agreement on the latest COVID-19 pandemic relief package. It comes after months of GOP inaction after the last major relief legislation: the CARES Act, which was passed in March.

The new package includes numerous provisions meant to bolster the faltering economy over the next few months. Additionally, most Americans will receive a $600 stimulus check—which is half of the amount that was sent to them in the spring.

That $600 figure has not struck many Americans as helpful and news of the stimulus checks was met with both disappointment and humor all across social media. With that in mind, here are 16 of the funniest memes we could find to help you cope.

Some memes imagine Sen. Mitch McConnell in the role he was born to play: Marie Antoinette.

While other memes are a little more blunt.

And then there are the truly dark memes.

The dollar amount on the stimulus checks reminded some in meme-world of late-night fundraising commercials.

Others were reminded of, well…

And even the Fyre Fest fiasco became a metaphor for the stimulus checks.

Overall, though, the question seemed to be, “How am I going to make $600 do so much?”

Like, literally, people wanted to know.

And Republicans weren’t the only ones targeted by memes—no one was spared.

But there’s always time for a little disappointment nostalgia on Twitter.

Or, perhaps, some nostalgia for gaffes of a more recent kind.

And at least we can close out 2020 with a few good laughs.
