Families coming to Michigan from Afghanistan join the long history of shared struggle and accomplishment with over a century of Armenians, Iraqis, Syrians and others fleeing danger.
There is “much more work necessary to right the wrongs done to these families,” said Efrén Olivares, SPLC Tucson’s deputy legal director of immigrant justice.
The decision undoes the Trump administration’s massively unpopular policy responsible for the separation of more than 5,500 children from their parents at the U.S-Mexico border.
